From time to time, the IPLocate Website may invite you to submit your device’s location to help improve our geolocation services. If you agree, we will receive latitude/longitude and an accuracy estimate from your browser or device, together with your IP address and the time of submission.

We use obfuscated location submissions for testing and training purposes related to IPLocate’s geolocation services.
For example, we compare submissions with our existing datasets to identify where our database may be incorrect or out of date, and we use them as internal signals to investigate other data sources and improve our models and curation processes.
We do not include these submissions directly in our geolocation databases.
We retain obfuscated location submissions for up to 90 days for analysis and testing, after which we delete them or further aggregate them.
Submitting device location is entirely optional. Your browser will ask for permission before any device location is shared with us, and you may decline. You may also withdraw permission through your browser or device settings at any time.
We may share obfuscated or otherwise de-identified datasets derived from location submissions with our service providers to help us analyse and improve our services (see “Service providers”) and, in limited circumstances, with academic researchers under agreements that limit use and prohibit re-identification and onward sharing (see “Research use of de-identified data”).
We may share de-identified datasets derived from information we collect (including obfuscated location submissions) with academic researchers for research purposes. De-identified means the data is processed to remove direct identifiers and to reduce the likelihood of re-identification. Any such sharing is subject to written terms that:
